Hi there,

Welcome to Echonest's 5th EP, Evidence of Adolescence.

This album started as one song that has become a crowd favorite at shows due to it's catchy riffs, guitar/bass thumping passages, and solos from all three members. That single song is called "Discovery" in the EP but I'm sure it will be forever called EOA by myself and the boys. The song is full of fun chord progressions and riffs and I often found myself writing two new sections simultaneously in my head when listening to the song. Instead of completely overloading a single track and making a 15 minute Jazz-Rock odyssey, I opted to write new songs based on motifs from the original. Kind of like having an overture in an opera. When listening, you’ll hear melodies, riffs, and chord progressions from “Discovery” in “Tristesse” and “gUrl” and even a licc (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) from something we all know and love.

This EP was supposed to be our first touring adventure. We were planning a 5 date run across the south east with a local release show after featuring a live string quartet to play Keith’s beautiful orchestrations running through all three songs. Unfortunately our plans were shattered due to the COVID-19 epidemic and like many other musicians, 2020 has seemed to put a stop to all progress in furthering our careers.

Instead of sitting on the EP for another year or possibly longer, we have decided to do a soft release on Bandcamp and through streaming services to celebrate what we created. In addition to the music, Keith and I will be recording live versions and have completely tabbed out our parts for “Discovery”!

We’re already hard at work into new music and hopefully back on stage soon but until then, let’s all stay safe and flatten the curve.
