about

Good Evening. Welcome to the third and final chapter of the Echonest trilogy. Beginning with "As the Waters Recede" and "Wave", "Deluge" brings us home with bone crushing 8 string Death Metal meets Mathcore riffs.

The recording of this EP started in the Summer but was quickly put on the back burner as musicals, tribute gigs, and other shows started appearing. This was also the fastest written and record original music I've put out as Echonest (with the exclusion of "T H I C C") with the writing, recording, and mixing taking place over only a few months. The musical interludes were written only a few weeks to days ago! My favorite part about this project was finding a fun way to incorporate vocals. Using people's Alien Abduction Testimonies made for fun night on YouTube and caused many late night paranoia episodes. Aliens are one my personal favorite esoteric and conspiratorial subjects from the abduction of Betty and Barney Hill to the recent Tic-Tac videos. This genre of extreme low tunings and harmonically rich palm muting has always sounded like music from Zeta-Riticuli to me so I thought layering these sound bites was the perfect way to blend my love of music and crazy bullshit.

The songs are all experiments in recording too. "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" is recorded entirely with real amps. A Carr Slant 6V/Marshall 1960B(G12-75's) and Carr El Moto/Rivera 412(V30's) made for an astonishingly heavy sound. Quad tracked guitar made this song incredibly lively. These amps along with an Engl amp from Fractal AX8 made the tones for "Deluge". Super tight amp sims and spongy amps give the guitars in this song definition and slop. "T H I C C" is only amp sims. The extreme technique and tempo on this tune need a super tight and clean sound. This is the only tune with no bass guitar and only 2 tracks of rhythm guitar.

I hope you dig this labor of love and please give a follow to @Learrrs, @HelloHayley, and @MichaelJulainRios on YouTube who I used in these recordings.
